100mm in overall length, 80mm in overall width. There is no doubt that these few figures not only improve safety but also bring new possibilities to minicars! (referring to changes to Kei car regs) There is something about the style of the Honda Z, a big name in minicars that has been revived after a long time, that really makes you feel that way.
The Z is different from RVs such as the Wagon R and Move, and from the orthodox style of the Alto and Mira.
The car's style evokes both the outdoors and the city, and the straight accent lines on the sides of the body give it a powerful feel that is not typical of a compact car.
With a total length of 3,395 mm and a total width of 1,475 mm, it is within the new minicar framework. The 1,675 mm tallboy is in the style of the Honda Z. The 175/80R15 tires are large for a kei size, and the way they stand out at the four corners gives the design a charming look.
As the manufacturer calls it a "small super mover," the key point is that even with this small body, it still provides ample room. The Honda Z uses an "underfloor midship" floor, which means the 660cc engine is mounted under the rear seat! This achieves an ideal 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution ratio.
At the same time, it is also practical, being able to comfortably accommodate four adults.
Furthermore, this is driven by a viscous coupling type 4WD, giving the vehicle high off-road capability despite its small size.
The Honda Z is full of unique ideas that are so Honda-like.
But that's not the only surprise.
Turbo
This time, there are two types of engines available for the Honda Z. A NA unit with SOHC 12 valves that produces 52ps/6.1 kgm and a turbo unit that produces 64ps/9.5 kgm. Hmm? Turbo? Yes, this is the first turbo since the wing turbo used in the Legend.
It has been resurrected!
"The combination of a midship turbo and 4WD is the same as that of the Lamborghini Diablo! When you hear that, you might imagine an incredible ride, but the Honda Z's driving is practical. Of course, the turbo can be transformed into a light and fast car if you want to, but it's not a super sharp machine. Rather, it's a car that everyone can enjoy, offering a pleasant ride as it turns smoothly into corners.
It's a fun setting.
There is no doubt that this car will be the perfect city commuter car, as it runs smoothly around town. The interior is also much more high-quality than previous light cars. Compared to its big brother, the Capa, the quality of the equipment is more than satisfactory for this class.
The rear seats can be flipped up to create a flat floor. It has excellent carrying capacity for large luggage. Even though the engine is under the rear seats, the occupants are extremely comfortable. It can be used as a city commuter.
Whether you use it as a road bike or an off-road vehicle is up to your preference. By installing the wide range of optional parts available, you can create a more unique and fun Honda Z.
Body colors are silver, orange, black, green, blue, white.The only thing that's unfortunate is that the seat color is one color.

The Honda Z is really small!
When you see the Honda Z in person, it has an impressive body, but when you take it out on the city, its size really makes you feel the maneuverability that only a light car can offer.
I compared it with another Honda compact car, the Capa, and the difference in size was obvious. The difference in width was particularly large, with the Honda Z being noticeably smaller.
By comparison, the Honda Z size is 38mm shorter in overall length, 70mm shorter in overall width, and 25mm taller.
The minimum turning radius of the Capa is 4.8m, while that of the Honda Z is 4.6m, which is quite small. This is an excellent figure considering that both the Capa and the Honda Z have a wheelbase of 2360mm.

As it is a brand new minicar, the price is of course a concern, but due to the fierce negotiations between the manufacturers, Honda has not yet officially announced the price as of October 1st. We hope that the information will be made available to many users as soon as possible...
There are two types of engines: naturally aspirated and turbocharged. The engine is revealed when you flip up the rear seats and open the lid under the interior material. The dashboard is simple, but functional and easy to use. Navigation is an optional feature.
The rear seats are thin but can comfortably accommodate two adults. The seats can be flipped up forward to create a completely flat luggage space.

I've only driven a sedan once before, the rental car I took from my brother's friend's place to the cemetery I saw the 2024 total solar eclipse from. Everything else has been a (small) pick up, a hatchback, a minivan, like four station wagons, a pre-SUV Forester and an SUV Forester.
I don't want an SUV.
I loved my offroad station wagon. I want another offroad station wagon. I do not particularly need an offroad station wagon.
My dad wants me to have the newest safety features. Subaru Eyesight was only introduced ~2015, and made standard ~2019.
My beloved Subaru Outback became an SUV in 2005.
So. That means we're looking at sedans and hatchbacks. I'm tempted to go back to the type of car I inherited from my yiayia ‐ a two door hatchback that I also lost to a deer. I'm thinking maybe a Honda Fit, reliable and sometimes come in pretty colors.
My dad says the car needs to weigh at least 3k. Because of Click and Clack. Radio brothers that have been off the air for a dozen years.
I wonder what the Tappet Brothers would have to say about how modern cars are data gathering and surveillance devices. My dad used to he more worried about digital surveillance, until he could be in the other side of it.
So Honda Fit too light. And lacks AWD, which is useful when living somewhere with mountains and snow and little snow infrastructure. Looking at the Subaru Impreza. Nothing is all that endearing about it, except for the shade of blue that some of them come in. I feel so much like a girl (negative), the way I'm susceptible to a pretty color.
I want a pretty color. Yesterday I was looking up how much it would cost to paint a car. $1k for bad quality, $8k minimum for acceptable quality apparently.
Find out that the Impreza doesn't have room for a donut, let alone a spare tire. That ruin's all the shine of pretty colors and getting a good mpg while still being all-wheel drive.
So today I test drive a Subaru Legacy. Red. Wide. But not as wide as the minivan, so maybe it'll be alright.
After we all but say we'll buy the car in a few days, I get in the back seat.
I'm too tall.
I can make it if I slouch. But my brother and father are taller.
So I guess that's a no on sedans.

Feel kind of lucky actually. Aaron found that the tire pressure in our right front tire had dropped from 32 to 24. Went right to the Oakland Airport and traded our trusty Prius in for a Honda CRV AWD Hybrid. A much better fit for Aaron!

Our first wine tasting was at Austin Hope. We’d been introduced to this winery by Meroe and Stefan. Hope Family Wines was named “2022 American Winery of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast. We were seated in an outside cabana and man, was it hot! 90 degrees and uncharacteristically humid. We succumbed to using wash clothes dunked in ice water. The wine was as good as we remembered. We are now club members of a fine line of wines.

Our second tasting was at the Dauo Vineyards. The view from the winery’s hilltop overlooking Paso’s vineyards well crafted for flowers gardens was mighty special. We opted to go inside for our tasting ~ the tasting space was spectacular with a backlit marble bar and beams as wide as a redwood tree. Aaron had read about the quality of their food, so we ordered a charcuterie board (Courtney would have awarded an A+) and a chopped salad with pickled golden raisins, feta emulsion, kale, farrow and more. The wines followed suit. We loved (did I say loved?) the Reserve Seven Forty (cab franc forward) and the Estate Cabernet. We did some higher math and realized with the comp of the tasting and some major rationalization, we could join the club and have some beautiful wines in store for special times. YOLO after all. 🥂

Our airbnb is in a typical neighborhood. But wowza did this host create an experience inside! Fresh flowers, champagne and Pellegrino in the fridge, boxes of snacks, a bidet (I think I need one of these!&#!), a towel/robe warmer, oodles of cozy blankets and a private outdoor patio with a breakfast table, couches and a gas fire pit. We’re having a blast using all of the amenities. A much appreciated mid journey break.

Very curious what you recommend for an all season chassis in a place that gets snow. Ive had Toyota's, fords mostly and usually stick to rwd but I think I need to consider a 4wd/awd. A bit wary of subies because of the head gaskets and general particularity of them. Please advise!
if you wanna stick to what you know, the toyota rav4 is great, pretty much any generation, same with the tacoma. the toyota matrix also had an awd option, if you don’t want an suv or truck. you could also go with a honda cr-v, especially the older ones
if you wanna go older i can personally vouch for the jeep cherokee xj, the 1997-2001 specifically (just bc that’s what i have) i like in new england in an area where we get some pretty dense and heavy snowfall, and i haven’t had to touch a snow shovel since i bought my 01 xj. just powers over or through it
i wanna say subarus post-2005 or so were less prone to the head gasket problems, and i can vouch that my 04 wrx did great in snow (sold it when the clutch went out)
tbh though the most important things are your tires and driving skill. a muscle car with snow tires practicing gentle acceleration and not turning while braking will do better driving in the snow than a lot of awd cars out there. i’m planning on my next car probably being big, heavy, and rwd, and i will definitely be investing in some good snow tires. a lot of people will put a set on cheap steel wheels so they can just swap out their wheels in the spring instead of buying new tires every 8 months. helps both sets go longer

A THIMBLEFUL OF THURSDAY
It's not easy trying to sleep with three cats piled on top of you. Especially when the bed isn't a hammock. Or even comfortable. Ugh.
My back is still hurting, and the bed doesn't help. Or the sofas. In fact, there really isn't a comfortable piece of furniture in the house. Twenty or thirty years ago when it was all new, maybe. Ugh.
On the bright side, we have new phones on the way. Our old ones have reached the end of their useful lives, so it's time to upgrade. She's getting an iPhone 14 Pro Max and mine will be a Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Best of all, with trade-ins, discounts, her side teaching gig, and some financial jiu-jitsu our bill will pretty much be the same. That includes an upgrade in our ancient plan that AT&T discontinued 50 years ago.
Her dad's van is in the shop getting some work done. We had to return the loaner, a Honda CR-V, because it reached its max time limit. They replaced it with a new Honda Passport AWD with all the bells and whistles. It's impressive, but not nearly as cushy as our old Nissan Murano.
I found a discount store here that I'm going to love, American Science and Surplus. Archie McPhee stuff, military surplus, toys, scientific and nerd stuff including a giant display of beakers and other glass goodies, and more.
The problem is we got rid of a ton of junk to move here, the house is full of her mom's junk, and we don't have room for any junk at all.
We did buy some junk for the cats while we were out. We bought them a new cardboard scratcher/bed and Becca claimed it as hers within seconds of it touching the floor.
Now if you'll excuse me, there's work to be done.

With the Honda/Acura NSX beginning to show its age by the early 2000's, Honda decided to start working on a second generation model, with a desire to participate in the Le Mans Prototype 1 race to demonstrate their engineering prowess. The Honda RSX GT1 was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in August of 2004, with nearly no resemblance to the planned 2006 RSX, other than what was underneath. With a 4.4L V8, a modification of the 3.2L C32B V6 engine (with an added row for extra power), and a new AWD system, it would prove to dominate in LMP1, with the type being used until the 2008 year. 2008 brought the introduction of the RSX GT1 Limited Edition, a modified RSX with new carbon fiber body panels, and a more powerful 4.7L V8. While not eligible for LMP1, it was sold as a road-going warrior, on par with Ferraris at the time, for a little over $150k. 500 units sold out immediately after the announcement at the Tokyo Auto Show, and are all desirable collectors items, with even a driven car with 45k miles demanding nearly a million at the auction block in 2022.
